Governing Body Vacancies
We currently have vacancies on our school governing body and would like to ask if any of our current Whitecross parents or grandparents would be interested in taking on this important and rewarding role.
Our governors are a friendly and welcoming team of volunteers who work closely with the headteacher, making decisions which are vital to the successful running of the school, and which will directly affect the education and wellbeing of our children. They make a valuable contribution to the running of the school, offering time, enthusiasm and commitment. There are places for up to 11 governors on our board, and membership includes the headteacher and school staff, parents new and old, and professionals from the local area.
Governors usually meet in school five times a year on a Wednesday evening between 6pm-8pm. We also have two committees, one focusing on pupil attainment, progress and the curriculum and the other on finance, premises & personnel matters. Each committee meets virtually for one hour, three times a year, and governors are asked to join one of these two committees. Governors may also be asked to assist with governor panels for staff interviews if they are available.
No experience of governance or education is needed to join our governing body. We have lots of training resources and governors are happy to provide help and advice.
At the current time, the governing body would particularly welcome expressions of interest from individuals with skills or experience in the field of finance, marketing, premises management or health & safety, but even if you can’t offer experience in these areas, please don’t let this stop you applying as all applications are valued and welcome.
If you think you, or someone you know, could be interested in becoming a school governor and would like further information, please email either myself at email@example.com, or our Clerk to Governors Julie Fowler at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively, our Headteacher Claire FitzPatrick would be happy to have an informal chat about this when you are in school.
We hope to hear from you soon!
