Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

What is EYPP?

Early Years Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2015.  It is additional funding allocated to Early Years providers to help them support children from low income families.

Funding is means tested and allocated upon parents/carers meeting criteria set out by the government.  For example – parents/carers in receipt of certain benefits may be eligible.

Why has it been introduced?

The Government believe that EYPP is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children of parents/carers who are in receipt of certain benefits and their more wealthy peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the children who need it most.

Whist Early Years settings are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit, we are required to publicise online, information about how we have used the Early Years Pupil Premium funds allocated to us.

Strategy Statement and Action Plan

We have an Early Years Pupil Premium Strategy Statement and Action Plan in place.  However, due to the low number of children eligible for Pupil Premium at Whitecross we have not published it on our website.
