Eggs and Chicks

The farmer brought 10 eggs to Nursery and put them in the incubator to keep them warm.  We were excited to look at them and we talked about what we might see when the chicks began to hatch.  The chicks stayed in the incubator until their feathers were dry and then we moved them into the brooder box.  This had a  light to keep the chicks warm and we gave them some special food called chick crumb and some water.

The children have all had opportunites to hold the chicks and observe them more closely.  Some have been confident to let them settle in their hands and others have preferred to let them sit on their knee.
